Background

FrieslandCampina recognizes the importance of master data in bringing products to market faster than their competitors.  Lenno Maris, FrieslandCampina’s Global Director of Master Data, envisioned a Master Data Management (MDM) program that could support the entire end-to-end business process.  Many MDM solutions focus only on the primary master data foundation (Customers, Vendors, and Materials), but Maris’s vision was much bigger; he wished to put in place an MDM solution that controlled the data for the entire business process, end-to-end, including data capturing in manufacturing, sales and procurement, not traditionally found in an MDM program.

Why Syniti

FrieslandCampina was searching for a solution capable of managing all these data points simultaneously and at scale, whilst delivering an exceptional customer experience.  “I needed to have a supporting partner and supporting solution that could maintain and govern all of the data objects that effectively unlock that transaction”, explained Maris.

Maris needed a partner who could help him realize his vision of delivering a faster go-to market solution.  None of the MDM solution providers he had spoken with were talking about the kind of end-to-end enablement of master data, including the transactional process – except Syniti.

Results

FrieslandCampina and Syniti have collaborated since 2018 to realize the vision of an end-to-end master data management experience.  Together, we have co-developed and pioneered the MDM solution, opening up data to be leveraged throughout the entire business process.

As a result, SAP end-to-end master data is no longer a bottleneck at FrieslandCampina when executing functional processes and the business can have confidence in the accuracy of the data throughout each step of the process.  Initially working with over half a million data quality errors, FrieslandCampina has realized a 95% improvement in data quality since partnering with Syniti, whilst increasing the amount of data quality measuring points.

End-to-end throughput times, previously measuring in days or even weeks, have been cut in half, resulting in a significant business impact throughout the entire process.
